The acclaimed actor pointed out something that’s hard to argue with — Marvel had him locked into a contract, Marvel has billions of dollars in resources, and yet somehow, someway, the movie never got made. His message was clear: if the studio had genuinely wanted this film to exist, it would exist. Simple as that.
The Blade reboot has had one of the most turbulent development histories in recent Hollywood memory. First announced back in 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con, the project went through multiple writers, directors, and creative shake-ups over the years. Bassam Tariq was originally set to helm the film before departing the project. Yann Demange later came aboard, only for things to stall out further. At a certain point, it stopped feeling like a movie in development and started feeling like a Hollywood ghost story.
What makes Ali’s comments particularly striking is the tone. This isn’t a bitter, scorched-earth exit — it’s something more measured and, honestly, more damning.
